Under normal conditions, the existence of ‘radio’ (electro-magnetic) transmission signals is an inevitable feature of the working environment: Wireless communications, such as mobile phones and networking, are present almost everywhere. There are circumstances however, when these signals represent the presence of potential ‘listening’ devices in what should be a transmission free area.
Mobile phones, hands-free ear-sets, PDAs and laptop computers, all present opportunities for illicit monitoring and relaying of confidential conversations and discussions, as do devices designed for that specific objective, based on these technologies. These devices are hard to recognise as ‘listening’ devices because of their small size and apparently benign primary purpose. ‘Hacked’ mobile phones can readily be operated remotely under Bluetooth control to become unsuspecting ‘bugs’ without the knowledge of the owner. In addition, unscrupulous attendees can disguise their subterfuge by ‘innocently’ having and using these common gadgets.
The TSS-400 uses sophisticated and proprietary monitoring circuitry, to detect and discriminate mobile phone, WiFi, Bluetooth and other transmissions from the abundance of radio waves generally present in the environment. If a suspicious signal is detected by the TSS-400, the information is then processed to confirm the condition and reject spurious alerts. If confirmation is made then the TSS-400 will send an appropriate ‘alert’ text message (SMS) to a pre-defined recipient before returning to a monitoring state.
Designed specifically to monitor conference areas, meeting rooms, board rooms and sensitive data processing areas where transmitting equipment is prohibited, the TSS-400 continuously checks for suspicious transmissions. The unit is discreet, and is designed to sit sympathetically within a modern office environment.
